Description
I would have said that this practical purse was perfect for make-up or travel items (personally, I never leave the house without my handcream and lip balm), but in these times it’s worth noting that it is also just the right size for your face mask and hand sanitiser.
The outer fabric is a handwoven blend of wool and silk, and the two sides are different but complementary (see my process in the story below). The lining is a practical cotton. Dyes used to create this purse are madder, pomegranate and chestnut.
Every Ripple purse in the Flow collection is individually handmade from a unique combination of handwoven fabric. There will never be another purse like yours.
Dimensions
This purse is 22.5 cm long x 11.5 cm high x 4 cm wide (or approximately 9 x 4.5 x 1.5 inches).

Story
The simple rippling pattern that flows across this purse is the gentlest design in the Flow collection. Its small scale is suited to these handy accessories.
To make the Ripple purses I started with a warp of Blue-faced Leicester and silk, which is hard-wearing and resists surface pilling. I added weft yarns left over from weaving the scarves and cowls in this collection, weaving freely to create stripes and blends that pleased me on the loom. It’s important to me to use up the yarn I have dyed and not to waste these resources.
Having created a multi-coloured fabric, I then chose how to cut it so as to construct a variety of useful shapes and sizes. I put together complementary pieces, adding hand-dyed lining fabric to suit the purpose. All the sewing and finishing was carried out by me to create a completely individual purse in every case.
