Who, what, where
The person behind this site is also the person behind the loom, Cally Booker. I am a sole trader selling handwoven pieces which I have made myself. I hope you will love yours.
I am based in Dundee and you can see the address of my studio down there in the bottom left corner of the page. Our building is not open to the public except during specified Open Studios events, but you are welcome to visit by appointment. Please use the contact form to get hold of me by email.
Dundee is in Scotland, so these terms of use and your use of the website shall be governed by and construed in accordance with the laws of Scotland.
Respecting your privacy
If you would like the full glory of my privacy policy you can find it here. But if that is too much information, then please just be assured that I take good care of your personal data and only use it as you intend for me to use it, whether that is to send you a scarf or reply to an email.
Buying a handwoven piece
Each piece I weave is individual and bears the evidence of its maker’s hand. If you are looking for multiple identical products or machine-made precision then you probably won’t be happy with my distinctive, quirky weaves. That said, in spite of my best efforts I do bring a strong perfectionist streak to bear on my work, and your eye is unlikely to be more critical than mine! So if you are in any way unhappy with the quality of the piece you buy, please tell me about it and give me the opportunity to do better next time.
Buying online
You have rights. They are well described here. You should find everything you need to know about the piece you buy on its product page, but you are welcome to ask me questions. I’m sure you are aware of how tricky it is to represent colour accurately on screen, especially when every monitor has its own idiosyncrasies. Every effort has been made to give a faithful representation of each piece, but it can never substitute for a real life encounter.
When you place an order using this website you’ll receive an email notification acknowledging receipt of your order. I will then aim to dispatch your order within three working days and preferably much sooner. If there is likely to be a problem achieving that, then I will let you know as soon as possible. Once your order is on its way you will receive another notification, so you’ll know to lie in wait for the postie. More information about my packaging and shipping policies can be found here.
Your right to cancel
When you purchase an item from my online shop, we are entering into a contract. You have the right to cancel this contract within 14 days without giving any reason. The cancellation period will expire after 14 days from the day you (or a third party indicated by you) receives the item.
To exercise your right to cancel, you must tell me of your decision to cancel our contract by a clear statement such as a letter or email. To meet the cancellation deadline, it is sufficient that you send me notification of your decision to cancel before the cancellation period has expired (even if it takes a day or two for the postie to deliver it).
If you cancel the contract then I will reimburse you the full cost of your order, including delivery costs. However, I may need to make a deduction from the reimbursement for loss in value of the item, if this is due to unnecessary handling by you.
I will reimburse you by the same means you used to pay for the order. I will do this within 14 days of receiving the item back from you (or, if the item hasn’t yet been dispatched, within 14 days of your telling me of your decision to cancel). The paper mailing bag I use to send your item has a second seal so that it can be re-used as return packaging. You will need to pay for the return postage, and I do recommend you send it by a secure, tracked service and keep the proof of postage.
Customs fees and duties
If you are outside the United Kingdom, please note that there may be customs fees and/or import duties to pay on items shipped from the UK. These fees and duties are set by government and are the responsibility of the buyer. If you are concerned, please check with your local postal service or customs office before placing an order.
If something goes wrong
I know we’re both really hoping that it doesn’t. However, if all is not well with your purchase, the first thing to do is email me and we’ll take it from there.
Thank you
…for your interest in Bonny Claith. I am delighted that my work has found a place in your life.
