Description
This is one of the softest cowls I have ever made. The natural grey comes from my favourite blend of yak fibre, merino and silk: a lofty and luxurious yarn, which weaves into a wonderfully light and warm fabric.
From a distance the impression is of a gently textured design, but – when the light catches it just so – you can see the underlying pattern of different sizes of circles. The olive green contrast edge is naturally dyed with weld.
Every cowl in the Graphic collection is individually woven in a unique combination of pattern and colour. There will never be another one like yours.
Dimensions
This cowl is 31 cm deep x 71 cm in circumference (or approximately 12 x 28 inches). I tend to favour a fairly loose-fitting cowl, not too snug under the chin, so that is how I have constructed this one.

Story
The graphic design of these elegant cowls further develops my ‘lockdown collection’ of simple materials which began in 2020. The pattern of circles goes from large to small and back again between rows of zig-zagging lines, while the contrasting selvedge provides a dense pop of colour. There’s also a wave design which you can see here.
This cowl was woven on my 16-shaft Louet Megado and then sewn up with a flat fell seam for maximum comfort.
